Visitors from South Carolina!

We were absolutely thrilled to have the Slempa family come and visit us while they were in the hills! While Mommy and Teneshia caught up on old times, Bodhi and Cerek really seemed to enjoy hanging out--we wish that we lived closer to each other! The boys are 16 days apart (Cerek was actually born on Bodhi's due date, December 20th); Cerek is close to Bodhi's size (Cerek weighs 23 pounds, and Bodhi weighs 25 pounds)! It was great swapping our stories about the joys of motherhood! Cerek is even starting to crawl; he tried to show Bodhi how it's done, but Bodhi is still more interested in holding our hands and walking versus crawling. Both of the boys are teething right now; Cerek has his 2 bottom teeth, and Bodhi is working on getting his 6th tooth (3 on the top, 3 on the bottom)! We look forward to sharing stories of future milestones together! Thanks for making time for us on your busy trip!

Spearfish 2

A day in Spearfish

We had a beautiful day, with no lessons or appointments, so we decided to pick up Grandma and Grandpa and head off to Spearfish. We started at the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery, where Bodhi just loved watching the fish from the underwater viewing, as well as watching Baxter and Sophie throw in all of the fish food. Then, we walked over to the park, where we dipped our feet in the water (yes, it was chilly, but refreshing; Baxter borrowed my flip flops to walk on the rough rocks). Of course, we had to pose ofr some pictures with the beautiful backdrop! After having a nice little picnic lunch, we spent a few minutes playing on the beautiful playground (I can't wait for Bodhi to be able to play on all of the fun things there), we packed up and headed home. Not surprisingly, all of the kids were asleep by the time we made it back to Rapid! It was another great summer day!

Bodhi's Baptism

We ended our great week of Vacation Bible School with Bodhi getting baptized on Sunday. We filled up the first three pews with all of our family--Grandma & Grandpa Meyer; Grandpa Linde and Marilyn; Karlin, Lee, and Duncan; Jeff, Baxter, and Sophie; Great Grandpa Meyer; and Tammy, Nick, Kendra, Zack, and Heidi. When we went up to the front of the sanctuary for my baptism, my Godparents (Uncle Jeff and Aunt Karlin) went up with us. They even put my name up on the projection screen! I really didn't mind it when Pastor Eric poured the water on my head--it reminded me of bathtime, which I just love! Then, when Pastor Rebecca introduced me to the congregation, I thought it was pretty cool how the whole church said that they would help raise me in the church! Afterwards, we headed out to Marilyn's house, where we had a great little barbeque. Daddy made burgers and hot dogs on the grill, Grandma Charlotte brought along all of the toppings, Marilyn made potato salad, Grandma Karen made some fruit salad and brought some chips, and Tammy brought ice cream, which we enjoyed with the great baptismal cake from Connie at Piece of Cake. It was also like a birthday cake, too, since it was Tammy's birthday. After the yummy lunch, we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery out at Dark Canyon, and some of us even walked along the creek to check it all out (at least that's what Mommy said; I did have to take a short little nap...). It was such a wonderful day, and I know that I am truly blessed to have so many people that care so much about me!

Harney, continued

Hiking up Harney Peak

We headed up to Sylvan Lake, where we met up with the Becketts and Grandma and Grandpa Meyer. We started the big hike up to Harney Peak at around 10:15. We took a few water breaks, diaper changings, and breath-catching breaks along the way. Grandpa and mommy took turns carrying me up in the Kelty backpack (okay, so it was mostly grandpa who toted me up; I am pretty heavy!). We made it up to the top just in time for lunch. The chipmunks really enjoyed it when the girls shared their cheese and crackers with them! Daddy brought up one of his airplanes to test out on top, but the receiver didn't cooperate. It was pretty foggy up at the top--the clouds were even going through the tower--pretty crazy! We were a bit faster on the way down. I was so tired from all of that strenuous activity, though, that I slept most of the way down! Charlene, Great Grandma Meyer, Great Aunt Hazel, and Aunt Tammy met up with us at Sylvan Lake, and we colled off by dipping our feet in the water. Then, we all went to Custer to eat at daddy's favorite restaurant (The Wrangler), and we stopped in Hill City to make s'mores at the Beckett's camp site--what an awesome day!

Mount Rushmore!

The Becketts decided to enjoy their new camper in the Black Hills, and we were happy to play tourist with them! Bodhi and Mommy caught the bug that was going around (it was very scary watching the little guy throw up every hour), and we were happy to get out and about after being under the weather! We met the Becketts up at Mount Rushmore, where Bodhi got to see the great monument that some of his family helped to create. It was a little chilly, so we made sure to pack some warm clothes. After watching the video in the ampitheater, we watched as the mountain lit up--wow!

Happy fourth of July!

For the fourth of July (which also happened to be when Bodhi turned 7 months old), we took a nice little family vacation to go and visit the Becketts in Miller. Bodhi saw his first parade (which he seemed to enjoy until some of the big trucks tooted their horns), he watched Lacey, Cassie, and Karly dance (they performed in the variety show), and he saw his first fireworks show (which he enjoyed, except for the louder firecrackers). He felt so well taken care of, with all of the girls doting on him--he is definitely loved!
