Tuesday afternoon (2/10), we took in Bodhi for his 2 month appointment (I can't believe it's been 2 months already)! Our appointment was scheduled for 4 p.m., but there was an emergency at the hospital, and Dr. Strong was on call. Instead of rescheduling, we decided to wait for her to come back (we had already given him Tylenol, and mommy was hoping to get the first shot appointment over with). When the nurse weighed him, we found out that he's up to 15 pounds, 14 ounces (the 97% for his age), he's 24 inches (2 feet! 90% for his age), and his head circumference is in the 75th percentile (not as big as grandpa Meyer's). When Dr. Strong came into the room, she was very impressed with Bodhi's head control, considering that, at his age, his head is around 1/3 of his body weight (can you imagine having your head be 1/3 of your body weight now? Yikes!). She listened to his heart and lungs with the stethoscope. It was pretty cute--as she was moving the stethoscope around, Bodhi took in a deep breath, just like the doctor's ask you to do. Dr. Strong was very impressed, and said, "Well, now you're just showing off. You're taking in deep breaths without me even asking you to!" Then, Bodhi started talking to her (he is a pretty social little guy), and she told us that he's not supposed to be doing that until he's 3 months old! Then, it was time for the immunizations. First, he received the gel to help protect him against the Rotovirus. Then, two nurses came in to administer the 3 shots. I held on to his arms, and they each took a leg to poke. As soon as the needles went in, Bodhi's face turned bright red, and he had a pretty big frown on his face. He also held his breath. One of the nurses had to give him another shot; as soon as she was done, I picked him up and he let out a little scream, kinda like he was saying, "Mommy, why did we have to do that? I didn't really appreciate it." I'm happy to say, that's as bad as it got--he was a real trooper. We got him dressed and made his next appointment for when he's 4 months old, and we'll get to do it all over again!
